Please join us in celebrating the hundred year celebration honoring Miles Davis and John Coltrane, giants who changed the face of jazz and influenced countless musicians. The program starts with a selection from Miles’ “Birth of the Cool” period and extends into his later groups with Coltrane and Wayne Shorter. The Coltrane selections include some of his most iconic pieces, as well as his Carnegie Hall performance with Thelonious Monk.

Harry Drabkin (saxophone) was a graduate and faculty member of the Berklee College of Music before embarking on a medical career. He’s known for his performances in the Coltrane style. Stafford Hunter (trombone) was a former member of the Charles Mingus Big Band and active in the NYC jazz scene. Eric Gunnison (piano), also a Berklee Alumni and former pianist for Carmen McRae, along with Mark Simon (bass) and Todd Reid (drums) are among the most outstanding jazz musicians in Colorado and perform extensively throughout the Denver-Boulder area.
